Just an FYI, and a post so this willget archived and show up in a search...

I went to Advance Auto and ordered a heater core for a '71 CJ5, V6. It arrived and was wrong. The guy behind the counter started doing some cross-referencing with some older manuals (not common) and came up with a different part number. I can't remember what company he said it came from, but the PN is 399204. Just under $40. It was a special order and took about a week to arrive.

I only know that "Deutsches" means "German", so I assume you said:

    "Do you speak German?"

My response: "[insert the German word for 'no']"

Sure is slow around here today...

Got the replacement heater core in yesterday. FWIW - it's a "Ready-Aire" unit.

    Fit like a glove.

GUESS WHO'S GOT FACTORY HEAT!!!!!!!!! Well, sorta factory - I have the upgraded blower motor. Let me tell you - that thing moves some serious air! I'd say it puts out more volume than the heater in my DD. (Thanks Joel!!!)

Only snag I had was with the switch on the factory heater control. It worked fine on high, but when I turned it down to low, smoke started boiling out from under the dash. I yanked the battery cable before anything happened, but I did melt the one power wire.

Does this mean the resistor is bad in the switch? Or did I have it wired wrong? I had "keyed" power coming in, a power wire ran to the heater and a ground wire. I tried them in all combinations until I found the only one that worked. Was I not suppose to run a full 12 volts to the switch?

Nonetheless, I used an external switch and still used the factory control so the "UFO's" would work.

Sorry for not paying attention. What blower upgrade did you do? The one where you take it appart and switch the brushes?
