t-case gearing

    No, not sure what year the case is, but I will look into it and check out the tara site.
    thanks. just wanting to know out of couriousity.

    4.88 final drive ratio is 39 ring / 8 pinion in the front axle
    4.89 final drive ratio is 44 ring / 9 pinion in the rear axle
    5.38 final drive ratio is 43 ring / 8 pinion in both front and rear axles

    would the number of teeth on the gears be dif between the dana 44 and the dana 27. If I remember they were slightly dif. seeing the above list of ratios, the 4.89 caught my eye. from memory, it seems like the front was 4.89 and the rear was 4.88.
    Are they subposed to be that way?

    For Dauntless powered CJ with stock optional ratio the front is 4.88 ratio 39/8 and rear is 4.89 ratio 44/9.

    4.88 39/8 D-44's rear gears were available for SW and PU before 1960.

    No 4.89 ratio fronts.

    possible it was the other way around. its been over a year since I was in there.
