I have my carb installed (Rochester 2G) and am having troubles keeping it running. It will start and idle fine but as soon as I give it a little gas it dies. Timing appears to be on. It does not backfire and it does not sneeze. When I depress gas pedal it sucks in a lot of air and dies. It seems to be idling great. We are trying to adjust fuel/air mixtures and seems to be very touchy. Small adjustments cause the vehicle to stall. No vacuum leaks. Vacuum advance is disconnected and plugged up. Even with advance connected still has issues. What is the procedure for adjusting fuel/air mixtures????

Well, to make a "long story short", rubuild your carb. Sounds like a fuel pump problem. If you have just rebuilt it, check that you put back in the little ball at the bottom of the pump hole.

gently turn both idle mixture screws in until seated GENTLY!
then back them out 1 1/2 to 2 full turns and/or best lean idle condition

with the engine off, I would look down the carb throat and work your throttle; look to see if fuel is squirting; this checks the accelerator pump for proper operation; there should be 2 healthy blasts each time you acclerate the linkage

I did have this problem with the accelerator pump and had to replace it. It works now.
