    Question for all you folks?
Will a '71 skid plate work with a later model gas tank??
    Thanks in advance

The late '70 through '75 models should be the same.

From '76 on, the tanks are supported by the skid plate (call that the late tank). The Intermediate tank - and the '71 - bolts to the frame.

So, can you use a late tank with the '71 skid plate? Don't know. If you have both, give it a try. If you are looking to buy a tank, get one for a '72-75 and it will fit. Or buy a new late skid plate and a late tank - that will work too.

The offset cutout on the 71 skid for the pumkin is a little different then the 72-75 that had a centered rear end.

I never thought of that, i have a centered diff that i put in.
Does the diff ever get that close to the the skid plate that the offset cutout would matter??

    Regards
    Terry
