    My actual setup:

    My setup: 304 amc
    t18 a tran
    dana 20
    cj5 1975 with fiberglass body

hi,this weekend i instal my hydrolic setup fot the cluth did everything right but when i come to test it the clutcht dosen't want to disengage. After a couple of test a reinstall the manual linkage and dosent change anything clutch sill dosent want to dissengage. I just change the engine in it so i took everyting on the old engine (just change the 304 for another 304) to put it in the new. I never had problem with my clutch with my old engine. I try some research on internet but didn't get any answer.

When i push my pedal with my mechanic linkage i got a good travel but the the only thing i heard when the pedal is at the floor is somekind of friction noise and when i'm not able to put tran in gear.

are you sure you have the clutch fork aligned properly on the throwout bearing? and also lined up on the pivot?

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

either way, trans needs to come back out for a looksy.

The fork is align right on the pivot ball and the throwout bearing, i don't think it could be miss aligned but i try to look a second time after it.

For backwards you mean (i'm french so) the clutch is on the wrong side?

Reverse orientation; front towards back, back towards front.

so if i did that impossible to dissengage the clutch :? and that maybe the result ol the little friction noize i heard when i push the pedal clutch:? just wanna make sure before pulling the tran off the engine again :(

The issue is with the clutch "disk" which is the part of the clutch that goes under the "cover" or "pressure plate" and has the friction material on it. If the disk is backwards, the hub at the center of the disk can stick out and interfere with the release of the disk by stopping the movement of the clutch fork and release bearing (?? I presume that's the issue).

Mmm. Patrick, I wasn't correcting you - I wrote my reply without considering your or anyone else's spelling. Is that what you were pointing out? :coffee:

Does anyone have a picture of the clutch orientation? I plan to pull mine out tomorrow to take a look since I have been having disengagement problems since installing my new one and rebuilding my transmission. I don't want to swap it around without knowing if it's already correct. Thanks.
