Cowl / battery lid question.

    Hey guys here's a question. 55' CJ5...I noticed that on top of my cowl lid (battery box or whatever it is on a military jeep) there is a fracture in the paint and some rust forming....from underneith, it looks like they patched and filled over a hole...it appears there's two tabs where a cap or something locked in here....what in the world is..../was this?

    I'd say someone had a radio antenna there, and patched the hole with fiberglass.
