How is the '76-up gas tank skid plate that several places sell different from what I would need for my '75? Can it be somewhat easily modified to fit, or is there some place that sells the correct one?

    Thanks.

I expect you can make it work. Look at Boyink's site - http://boyink.com/cj6/gas-tank-installing-rear/

The frame width on a '75 is the same as the earlier Jeeps, so that should not be a problem. The later tanks use the skid to support the tank, but you won't need to do that. Looks like you'll have to figure out / fabricate the front mounting brackets, but otherwise it should fit ok.

Thanks, Tim. Looks like I'll be able to make it work!

On a side note, mine had the gas tank skid plate when we got it, but not long after that the gas tank developed a leak and it had to be taken off to get to the tank, and was layed in the car parts pile out back... And my Grandpa promptly came along and, needing some sheet metal for something, hacked a large notch out of it. :( Oh, well! :p
