Didn't find a thread on this anywhere so I figured i'd post it up.

Got tired of my electric wipers sticking out so far on my 62 that I finally decided to shorten them.

It was much easier than I thought it was going to be.

With the wiper motors removed, just remove the four screws that hold the metal base onto the plastic housing and remove it. The pivoting shaft will either come out with it, or will remove by hand afterward.

I cut off 2.00" off both the shaft and the threaded sleeve and re-assembled it. The fit and look on the windshield is great now!

Also took advantage of the process to pack new grease into the gears of the wipers (and the shafts) since they were pretty dried out.

Sorry, no pics, didn't think of it at the time. I just used a 4" cutoff wheel on my angle grinder to do it, didn't take more than about 15 minutes to do it.

Most universal aftermarket electric wiper motors do need to be cut to fit right..
