OK It seems my cheap Omix fuel pump has failed. It's been on there for a few years but has almost no miles on it. It won't even pump let alone pump fuel. I'm guessing sitting with the crappy ethanol fuel has ate up the diaphragm. Rather than order another one from the usual Jeep parts suppliers I ordered a Airtex brand fuel/vacuum pump from Auto zone. For $54 bucks I guess I can't go wrong. Has anybody on here had any luck with this pump? What happened to the rebuild kits you used to be able to buy for these pumps?

I'm in the same boat, but my pump is brand new! I can tell from the inline fuel filter that there isn't any fuel pumping up through the filter, and the bowl of the pump is pretty low. Did you try the Airtex brand yet? How did it work out?

Airtex is a good brand. You should be ok.

Make sure there are no obstructions in the line from the tank to the pump.

You may want to check with KW. I haven't bought much of anything from them in a while now, but most (not all) of the Jeep parts places carry at least some Omix stuff. Personally, I won't buy anything Omix unless I can't find a suitable original or OEM replacement part. Unfortunately in some cases you don't have much choice. :(

That part number looks like the same number of the omix pump I had. I'm planning on installing the Airtex pump tomorrow.

Well I replaced the pump and it was pumping but there was no fuel in the carb.. I suspected the needle was stuck so I pulled the carb apart. Yup the bowl was less than 1/4 full and the needle was barely stuck... Also the accelerator pump didn't seem to be working either. So I bought a kit and rebuilt the carb... bolted it back on and the jeep fired right up and purrs like a kitten. Now for the leaking tranny seals...
