I am gonna take the soft top off the bus, it is beautiful weather and i really want it off for a while. So once i take it off, i will clean it really good and give the windows a good washing and waxing/polishing. Is there anything else to prevent mold or damage to the top? I am probably going to store it in the attic above the garage, it gets hot and somewhat humid up there. Any tips??

    Thanks!!

Of course the obvious is make sure it's not damp at all when you put it up.

I've never had trouble with anything I've stored in attics. As long as the attic is vented properly I wouldn't think humidity would be a problem.

I would think it would be fine. It is designed to take moisture and direct-sun heat in the first place. The heat in the attic can't be as hot as what the top gets in a parking lot in the sun, can it?

FYI - the "borrowed/used" top I just put on Lulu had been folded up (windows and all) in an outbuilding with the door wide open for the past ~4 years. It was covered in dust. I washed it with soap and water, let it dry, brought it inside for a day or two to warm up and become pliable - and it went on without a hitch. No problems whatsoever.

Point being, they aren't as delicate as you might think. The attic over your garage should be fine.

I made the mistake of putting a cleaner/polish on my top before storage. The protectant permanantly etched my windows after I took it down for winter use. I would wash it but don't put anything on it. Or put a towel between the clear windows and the rest of the top...

I'm always picky about tops...*always* put towels between the windows, even if freshy washed.

I built a box using 1x4s & 1/4" masonite paneling. The box is approx 48" x 48" x 5" deep. (Basically the same size of the box that the top comes in) I have (2) sheets off cardboard which make 4 compartments. As thin as the box is, I tuck it in behind stuff and it disappears.

I know when I unpacked my tiger top, there was tissue paper between the windows and the rest of the top. Maybe throw some tissue paper in there. Might also help absorb moisture. What about baby powder? Or would that be to messy to deal with cleaning up later?
