Looks good! I wish I had the time/space/patience to do a build like that.

Looks like the open end of that square tube is going to be an ankle biter

It may or may not get changed. I may angle the tubing on the corner to be 45 degrees to keep it away. for now it will be ok. but i know what you are saying. :)

Boy I have been on a roll lately. Tranny tunnel, gas pedal install, radiator installed. Now I got my Crossmember cradle for my Tcase almost done. I copied the Kong cradle for a Suzuki Samurai.

Next step is to get the body off the frame and order some spring bushings to make my mounts to the frame, and add a gusset to secure the Tcase front output to the cradle and make a skid plate for the bottom.

Well for the last couple of days i have been working on the front Dana 25. I cleaned it up and decided to make a truss for it. Not like it is going to be a hardcore rig, but i wanted to make all the old jeep part haters go "What the heck??" :)

Well i got my intermediate shaft in today.
I shortened it down as much as possible. it will mate the tracker 5 speed to the samurai tcase. i sent it out to be welded and balanced since it seems to be a real important part of this drivetrain. :)
I am waiting on my disc brakes and longer lug studs to show up and i can get the axles buttoned up and start the assembly. :)

Got the mounts for the Tcase figured out. Now to do some angling of the Tcase to match the pinion angle and i will burn it in.

It is official, i have the drivetrain mounted. Will test fit the tub again with everything connected. I am bending the Tcase shifter to make it work better for me.

Just read through your whole buildup, I've been gone since you've started it. It looks great. There's some real skill and ingenuity with the fab work and drivetrain work. One question for you, why did you decide against a reverse shackle set up? Just curious

I have gone over the shackle reversal many times during differnt rigs i have done, but i just keep going the factory setup. I dont find my ride that bad and with the XJ springs i should get plenty of comfort. Just never found the need to do it. :)

Cool build. Also been looking at divorced tcases in the boneyard. Where is your shifter going to sit in relation to the seats?

I am working on the shifter now. I bent it straight last night to fit it better. I will be behind the Main shifter and to the passenger side. It will be before the seats, will fit nicely.

Did a bunch of things this weekend. Filled the gear boxes with oil. Mounted front driveshaft. I got the body back on and it is staying on. It fits real nice with the 35s under it. Also got the GM alternator mount done on the Zuki motor.

I got the power steering pump mounted today. still need to clean it up and add paint. This is a Jeep XJ pump. I had a piece of the original bracket and used it with a new bracket i made to bolt to the engine block. I made two slots in the mount and it pivots with the original mount so i can tension the belt.

Front shock mounts finished. Was going to make a hoop but didnt have enough room. This works just fine.

Got the steering done today. The 1974 CJ5 steering column was cut down about 5 inches, and rewelded. The steering is just a Grant product.

The column as close and up on the dash to give lots of room to get in and out.

I made the support for the firewall to hold the column down.

The shaft to connect the gear box to column is part XJ (bottom to gearbox) and the top prtion and slip shaft was from a newer Dodge ram. I jsut had to weld one part of the slip tube to the top shaft.

I still need to get a pressure hose for the steering pump, but i think a XJ unit may work fine.

I like what you're doing with this build. Looked at a lot of those same components when I recently did my Saginaw upgrade. Should be a sturdy setup. Where are you putting the steering box?

I also really like those M38 gauges mounted in the '74 dash.
