My 1975 CJ6 Project

Well its running under its own power, and what power that is, alot of fun,





I then installed the hood and rear bumper





I then installed the softtop, very very hard in winter, lots of swearing and straining but I got it on eventually and it looks good





Whilst out in a friends scrap yard I came across a seat that I thought would work for a rear seat in the 6, it came out of a Ford Transit van (front passengers seat)
Once I got it home, I got to work modifying it to suit the 6, the mounting legs were offset oneside to suit the Ford so I cut and extended them to centralise them. I then found that it sat a little high so I chopped and dropped it down, I then welded in some studs so its easy to bolt in and remove if required. I also welded in some captive nuts for the lap belts. All in all I think it was a good find, especially when it was free.









Tomorrow I start the front bumper

Those are both nice, good skills.

 

I like the sliders. That is close to what I want to build.

 

Did you bolt and weld or just bolt or just weld the sliders to the frame?

 

I just bolted them to it, 3/8" grade 8 by 4 on each mount, don't think its going to go anywhere

I like your Heater design. I ordered a Mojave Heater but have not installed it. Yours looks better. What brand is that? I realize you’re in Ireland but we might carry that same brand here. Could you list it for me?

Started my cage for the 6:

Phase 1: Main hoop and front legs, also welded in sleeves into the main hoop for the seat belts



Phase 2: Rear legs and checking to see that the soft top still fits









Phase 3: Bracing







Phase 4: Triangulation





Phase 5: Grab handles and seat mounts







Phase 6: Fender protection



Now to just paint everything

 

Very impressed and the repair work as seen is beyond the capability of many hobbyists. That Mercedes tranny to D-20 adapter is proof.

 

Andrew, Nice Roll Cage you got started. ----Now to beat a deadhorse .... I went to the T7 design's web site and the Heater assemblies there looks a little different than yours. Could you list the options that you ordered with your heater? I must have spoken to soon on saying that I could get that one of these in the USA. I only see it being sold in Europe. I know his web site says they ship worldwide. I've got a email sent to them request additional information on shipping & availability. I need to get it delivered soon because of project is coming to a close as well/ I don't want to tear it apart again.

The one I used is the same as the ones listed on his site however its a larger version using twin fans, he does do it but you may need to get him to email you the unit listing as I too can't find it on the website. Adam is his name and he is very good to deal with. Hope this helps. As for other bits, most of it comes with the kit, the only extras I brought are the dash vents and the hose, oh and a inlet/outlet valve.

 

Andrew, I've chatted with Adam earlier today over your Heater. I shot him a picture of it. He said you had one of the "Proto types" Lucky You! Still trying to get all the details worked out so that I might have a project after all.
