I have a 1974 cj5 with 304... new battery, alternator, and regulator and it seems to discharge when it sits after driving it. Charges in the 13 volt range while running but will not hold a charge. Went through all the wiring and cant find the issue. If I unhook the grey wires from the back of the motorola alternator it won't lose charge but with them hooked up it loses charge. I am kicking my own *** for not switching it to a 1 wire delco. The amp light never lights and has a new bulb even when the grey wires are hooked up. Driving me crazy. Have a full wire schematic and can't pinpoint the issue.

If you disconnect the alternator and the problem goes away I'd suspect the diode bridge in the alternator itself. It can still partially charge when running but allow the battery to discharge when static. It can show decent voltage but won't give full amps.
