soft top windshield channel

I ordered a new bestop supertop and was wondering if anyone had any issues with using the original windshield channel. Mine has what looks to be the original as it follows the contour of the windshield frame. Bestop offers one but I didn't order it and was just interested if anybody had any problems before. Thanks in advance.

 

IIRC, the only one Bestop has is for '76+, and wouldn't work for your '66. As long as your original is not pinched or bent, top should slide in OK. Might not hurt to make sure it's clean of debris and rust before you put your spendy new top in there.

 

Thanks for the quick reply. The one I ordered is advertised as a 55-75. I sure hope it fits.

 

I was talking about the w/s channel. If you ordered the 55-75 top you'll be fine. Sorry, didn't mean to scare ya...........

 

Thanks, I've had my share of disappointments when it come to getting the right "old" jeep part!

 

I have a bestop super top on my 57 CJ5. It has the original soft top channel on the windshield. There won't be any issues unless yours is bent. Mine fits perfect. Better than the tiger top.

I too used the Bestop Supertop with the original channel. Works well.
