I am workng on finishing up my 73 CJ5. warmed up 360 t18 and scout dana 300. i am thinking about adding a hyd clutch setup on it. right now i have just manual brakes but later on down the road i would like to add a power assist setup. is there going to be clearance problems with the clutch master cyl and the power brake booster cylinder?

This is same arrangement that later CJs used from the factory. You might study how those are assembled. I'll be making this upgrade to my '71 model soon.
I sent you a PM. You are close to me geographically.

Yes, you might have interference between the vacuum booster and the hydraulic cylinder. One possibility is a hydroboost instead of a vacuum booster. Astro Vans have them from the factory, along with some big GM cars and Ford trucks(?).

Elliot sells a kit on the IFSJA forums http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?t=106056&highlight=hydroboost

Pretty sure the later Jeeps with a booster have a bracket that moves the booster a few inches from the firewall. I presume this leaves enough room for the clutch cylinder.

i will have to see if i cant find a newer cj to look at to see how it is set up. I really dont want to have to go to a hydroboost system. i would rather stick with a vaccum booster.

Most, if not all, of the later model 4 cyl CJs have a hydraulic clutch. The 6 cyl still used a mechanical linkage.

I put the pedals, power brakes and hyd clutch hardware from a cherokee in my '75 with no clearance issues. I did have to heat and bend the pedals a little to clear the steering column
