I own a 53' M38a1 and looking to upgrade my suspension. While researching possibilities I found rocky-road dot com, they have a CJ to YJ spring conversion. Has any one made this conversion or does anyone have some input on this topic.

Thanks for the info on Holbrook but I just read their site and they have a disclaimer:
NOTE - These springs are not designed for use with a front shackle reversal system (solid spring mount at the front bumper) as used on all M38-A1 Jeeps. Additionally, they are not designed for a "spring over" system.

I used a similar kit from a now out-of-business company when I did my front Wrangler conversion and just ordered the hangers and hardware from the Quadratec catalog when I did the rears. This kit looks great, they have done all the figuring out for you about where to place the mounts to compensate for the longer YJ springs. I would definitely get this kit.

YJ springs are not designed for spring over either.
The biggest issues with the Holbrook springs on an M38a1 or other Jeep with shackle reversal is getting the pinion angle and caster right because of the mounting of the springs.
The Holbrook's were not designed for spring over so the possibility of spring wrap is very high. That's why they have the disclaimer on their web site. They've had issues with people using their springs in ways they were never designed to be used then complaining about the springs:rofl:

Thanks for your input. The set up from Rocky-Road only goes back to 55'-75' was the frame of a 53' the same as a 55'? I believe it was but I think the suspension was different, they did away with the shackle reversal?
The worse scenario is I cut off the old spring hangers and weld this one in place.

The frames are interchangeable, there are some differences though. The M38a1 and very early CJ's with the shackle reversal had the rear shackle pivot through the frame, not on a bracket underneath the frame. You could add the bracket underneath the frame though if you wanted. These are available from many suppliers.
