on my 74 cj5 the heater box has two 2.5" ports for the defrost
and the defrost can has only one connection point??????
the diagram in the manual shows only one hose?????
What is the story?? do I just cap the second port or wye the hoses to make the connection between the box and the defrost can

I know that on the early models (up to '71) one of the ports was taped over/ closed from the factory.

Has anyone replaced the round defroster hose? If so, where did you find a replacement? Did you get a generic rubber hose at an autoparts store, or were you able to find a direct replacement? I have a 73 in need of a replacement.

I bought a duct hose at Autozone several years ago...2 1/2 inch IIRC. Might have been 2".

A black spary paint can lid over the hole and a hose clamp make a nice clean cap for the extra port. Alomost looks factory.

I like the idea of the cap.

My outlets are 2 1/2" and I'm still looking for the duct that attaches to the windshield, myself.

I ran across this supplier for the duct hose...

Also, has anyone found a source for the drain tube for the cowl box?
Right now mine is set up to drain directly on the passengers feet

I know of no aftermarket source for the drain hose. I made one from PVC pipe. Pics later if you are interested.

I believe you can get the drain tube from midwest jeep. he has a contact to an outfit that makes and procures all the rubber stuff for old jeeps. I actually obtained a fresh air duct from him for my 74.
the defrost duct is a problem for me as well. I put one of those plastic after market box at the dash and the O.D is 3". I have a 3" plastic vent hose from nostalgic air parts and figure to build an adapter for the 2.5" connection to the main distribution box.
    havent got to it yet.

    THX for the info

MTS offers the fresh air box, as well as the drain tube that goes from the air box through the firewall. (Just got mine in the mail a couple of days ago)

Although it doesn't show on their website, I believe the folks over on another forum also confirmed that they are now offering the oval air duct that goes from the fresh air box to the inlet on the heater box.

Could you clarify "MTS" please. I'd like to try to look them up. Thanks.
