    Heres my Dilemma,
    I am putting my 66 CJ5 V6 225 back together,
before i took it apart it had a 3" body lift, i put 1" hockey pucks in place to bring it down and now the mufflers rub on the under body.Should I 1) double stack the pucks to give me 2" body lift or 2) drop the transfer case which will lower the headers and mufflers? I have a 2.5" suspension lift.
    Please advise.
    :?:?

1" hockey pucks are as tall or taller than the factory body mounts, so that should be ok. Your cross member should be 3/4"-1" below your frame rails. If this is ok, than your hat channels are shot and hte body has settled or your mufflers are to thick. Mine do not rub the floors at all.

If you have non-swinging brake and clutch peddles you really can't do a body lift. Can you?

Yes - you just move the through hole in the floor for the pedals, or redo pedals to fit. Done it both ways.

I just welded new hat channels and floor in, i didnt think to measure the cross member distance,I will check tonight. Would the dana 20 make a differance in bringing the engine up causing the mufflers to rub on the underside in which case needing to bring the transfer case crossmember down?
How thick should the mufflers be?
Sorry for all the questions, but just tring to keep moving on this rebuild.

    Regards
    Terry

It's all personal preferance - remember your center of gravity as it is closest to the drive train. It will also impact ground clearance. I like a bit of a body lift, but that is due to mostly working on Flatties and don't want a hood scoop to get a good air cleaner. The SM465 needed to be moved up a touch to help with the ground clearance as it's a tall tranny.

I have been reading about spacers that go between the crossmember and frame on this website, does anyone have pictures that show this?

    Thanks

why not just lower the exhaust? unhook all the hangers and muscle it down . It should bend enough to do what you gotta do
