At least yours got a patch, mine was filled with bondo. The right side was worse than the left. the rust went from the suport right to the wheel arch. The right floor was rusted along where it joined the side panel and along the front edge.

There was rust hole here aswell
    [IMG]
So out with the grinder again
    [IMG]
    A few patches latter
    [IMG]
    Now to repair the sides

More pics. Before I started work on the tub I had orderd new hat channels and rear floor. The parts are from Md Juan. After welding the hat channels and rear floor in the tub was wire brushed and coated in underbody sealer. When the tub was dry the frame was rolled into the shed and the tub sat back on.

Now I had the tub on the frame it was time to fix the rust under the windscreen hinge.
After removing the front then the side part I found the support to be ok so I coverd it with rust converter. When that had dried it was painted before welding the side part on that I had saved from the cj6.
When I cut out the front part I took it to a metal shop to have a replacement made so when the new part was done it was welded in then the seam filled with seam sealer

Cheers guys! Time for some paint. This will be used mainly off road as its my 3rd car, so I didn't use any bondo to smooth the body work out. Just ground and smoothed the welds. Not a single dent was harmed in the repair of the body either. Tub was rubbed back then it was on with the undercoat.

    Now some color

The new engine is a tad longer and taller than the 170 it came with so I had to make a cut out in the cover before I could finnish painting the floor.

Next on the list was the spare wheel carrier. The latch needed to be moved after I moved the rear bar closer to the body.

First I cut off the latch then cut the bracket again to turn the latch around to face the other way.

Then I had to space it back so it would line up with the bar again.

Latch was welded to the rear of carrier then painted.

Got the fenders and grill mounted to.

Thanks Ojgrsoi, It will be 2 years next month that I have owned this thing, Didn't think it was going to take this long. Or cost so much. Have been running brake and clutch lines as well as started on the wiring the last few weeks. Not much to look at but will post up some pics in the next few days. Just bought a overdrive and full floating axle kitt off Herm so will be fitting those soon.

Start of the wiring. The wiring that was in the jeep was a mess when I got it so I cut all out. Got harness out of a 65 falcon and am adapting it to suit.

Have run the new brake and clutch lines. Converted to 4 wheel disc while I was at it.

Things are going slowly at the moment. Still working on wiring, not to much left to do. Got a new speedo cluster with the 2 terminal fuel gauge and not sure if I need a voltage regulator or not. Did a search, most people say yes so will get one and see what happens. Got hold of a new windscreen frame so just needs painting and fitting wiper motor and stuff.

It's been a while so thought I would give an update. The wiring is all done apart from the fuel gauge, have been trying to get hold of a regulator and the only place that could help me said they would have to make one up. Wouldn't give me any idea on cost but said it wouldn't be cheap. Anyone know where I can get one sent over from the U.S.A? Have yet to have new gas tank made up but have had motor running by spraying carby cleaner down the carb. No pics sorry, will get some more for next update.

Do you know what the voltage and current requirements are? An electronic voltage regulator might be a workable option. For example, if you need 5 volts, a 7805 3-terminal regulator would be less than a dollar and would handle up to 1 amp if properly heatsinked.

More pics. While I'm deciding what to do about gas gauge thought I'd get the hood and windscreen frame finished and painted. The only rust in the hood was in the front corners. Welded up the pinholes, ground down the welds then primed it.

The bolt holes for the hinges on the windscreen frame didn't line up so thay had to be moved.
First I drilled out the spotwelds then removed the plate with the nuts welded to it. The nut plate was checked against the hinge and was ok so I just elongated the holes in the frame then welded the nut plate back in.
    Fits good now.
Had to recut the hole for the wiper motor that had been welded up.
    Thats all for now.

Got some work done on weekend, so more pics to show. As the engine I fitted is a crossflow six the carb is on the other side of the engine witch ment making up a new gas pedal to work the cable.

Got some color on the hood. Finnished fitting up wiper motor so painted the windscreen frame as well.

Hi, Time for an update. The radiator has been rebuilt and fitted with new hoses and I have got the motor running. The rear brake caliper mounts needed to be slighty modified after I fitted the full floating kit to the rear and am just waiting on those so I can put it all together. Then it will be drivable, can't wait! Gas gauge problem has been sorted. Spoke to a bloke who knows a bit about them and said just wire it up and try it, so I put 12 volts to it, used a gauge checker and bingo worked perfect.
Pulled the seat out of the cj6 and sent it off to be repaired. While I'm waiting I will paint the frame. Started patching the gas tank this weekend, should have it finnished next weekend.
