I just need some advice on what to do with a couple things on my jeep... All the pictures are enlarged if you click'em. Also i'm driving a '61 cj5

    1. My floorpanels are getting rusty and have 1 or 2 pinprick sized holes in'em. What should i do to stop the rust/ fix the holes?

    2. I was thinking of upgrading my roll bar to full 6 point setup. i dont do too much off road but would like to have the extra protection. Would it be best to add to the one i already have or to start from scratch?- Also i would ike to know where the 2 front points connect to the frame at on a 6-point rollbar?

    3. Is there any way to make this horn louder? replace the gasket inside maybe?

    4. if my hands are wet or the air is humid (early morning) My steering wheel (original) is leaving a charcoal black color on my hands, anything i can do about it? maybe seal it or paint it or something?

On my steering wheel, I lightly sanded then wiped clean and sprayed it with a gloss black kitchen appliance paint from Home Depot. Works and looks great. Don't know how many years it will last but am thinking more than 2 years anyway. Small panels of light rust and small holes, I apply naval jelly per inst. Wipe clean with paint thinner and fill the small holes with JB Weld. Not sure on the horn as it is a different type than mine. Don't think it would hurt to open it up and clean it out and have a look-see. That's what I would do. HTH

Re the floors, you need to paint them somehow or they will continue to rust.

The best repair is to blast or sand down to bare metal and prime/paint with epoxy primer (the real automotive stuff, not rattle-can primer) and an automotive paint. Weld up the holes and grind smooth. Often it's easier just to cut out the old steel and weld in new.

It you can't do such a thorough job, there are plenty of rust treatment products on the market that will arrest the progress of the rust to some degree. Look at the rust encapsulating paints (POR-15, Eastwood, etc.) and rust converters (Naval Jelly, Permatex, etc.) that you can try. There's been soooo much written about these here and on other forums... do some searching and reading and pick what you think will work best.
