Drive-shaft orientation

    On a 67 CJ5 with a 225, is the short section of the front drive-shaft supposed to go close to the transfer case or the front diff? The FSM appears to show it close to the t-case, but I've seen photos showing it both ways.

    If you're talking about the slip yoke (splined yoke that changes the length of the drive shaft) then I'd suggest up towards the transfer case. It keeps dirt, mud, etc. from getting in the slip yoke, Less chance of damage, allows gravity to pull the grease down the splines of the slip yoke, etc.
