After reading the tech section on casting numbers and parts interchange, I could still use some help.

I have swapped in a 231 for the 225. I thought it was from an 81 Regal.

The casting #'s show it could be either a '77 odd fire or a 77-78 even fire.

    Block numbers- 1261438
    Heads- B 1257051

What confuses me more is the intake #25506510

The 255 casting series would be the 79-81 that I thought it was, or does that not make any difference?

Do I just need to pull the pan to look at the crank, or is there an easier way to ID I am overlooking.

    Any help is much appreciated.

After looking at the distributor, it looks like an even fire.(thanks Sparky)

I guess someone put a later model intake with a dualjet on it at some point. It looks to me like they started using it in '79, which would match to the casting on the intake.
