I don't know. You may need a CJ pitman arm. The indexing is referring to how the pitman arm indexes to the shaft coming out of the bottom of the box.

Thankfully nothing serious. I put what I thought was a box from my 63 Bonneville onto my buddy's CJ5 and only after driving it did I find out that it was a Z28 box that I bought to put onto my sister's GTO. You had to be really careful when driving at any decent speeds because a small twitch of the steering wheel with the quick ratio box would let you change lanes.

The box you are using is about ideal in my opinion.

One other thing to consider is that the slower ratio box has more power to turn the tires. Again, in my opinion, a plus if you have bigger tires and/or go wheeling.

I don't know how to tell a variable ratio box by looking at it either. Please let us know if you or anyone else here finds out!

    Good luck!

I got the hoses installed last night and everthing looks good. Now I just need a pitman arm and I will be ready to give it a try.

    I will post photo's when I finish.

IIRC, it was something like 2.5-2.6 L to L. I think it was something like 12 to 1 but I could be wrong....

Looks good Chip! I like the green paint too!
