Does anyone have a source for a heat riser for a 77 cj5 w/304? Maybe a napa or jeep dealer part number? Mine is broken in half and I have yet to find one. Thanks in advance for any ideas here.

If you are talking about the butterfly valve, you may have to do some cross referencing. Here's one for a Scout http://www.anythingscout.com/part/2794-exhaust-butterfly-heatriser-valve-ii I think it would work but you will need to compare.

Personally, I consider them unecessary and a huge restriction in the exhaust flow on your right side. I live in OK and don't even use a choke. I have to sit in it for a few minutes to keep it running in the winter but just a little heat and Pete idles just fine w/ none of that stuff to get in the way.

An engine with a V configuration doesn't really need them. It just provided a little heat to the manifold before the engine warms up,and actuates the choke stove for older carbs. In most cases they were eliminated in later years in favor of electic chokes and eventually EFI.
