next step on the cj is to do the steering system..my one piece tie rod is enroute, and the box assembly has been sitting out..going to order all the parts soon, but am wondering about the box..after i pop the cover, what should i look for as far as wear..meaning im wondering if i need a complete rebuild or just some new stuff....

In the box itself the most common wear points are the two pins on the sector shaft, look for flat spots on them.

Also common is the sector shaft sleeve bearing, try wiggling the shaft, you shouldn't be able to eel any slop.

Also examine the ball bearings for the the worm gear shaft, the bearing at the upper end of the steering shaft tube and the pitman arm ball for wear.
