carb questions

I have a 77 cj5 with a 304....previous owner installed an adapter plate on the intake with an endlebrock 4 bl carb. I want to go back to a 2 bl...will the standard 2bl ford/autolite/motorcraft work on this engine? Finding a Jeep 2 bl at a reasonable cost is almost impossible. Thanks

Any Motorcraft 2100 should work fine. Salvage yards maybe? Should work fine on the Jeep since that's what they came with. Ford trucks/vans/cars with the 302 should have the right size carb, I believe a 1.08 venturi size...stamped on the side.

 

There's a guy on eBay that sells rebuilt Motorcraft carbs for a reasonable price.

Try your local Jeep forums and bulletin boards - I have had good luck finding parts locally that way.

As Norm says, lots of Fords came with the 2100 or 2150 Motorcraft carburetor. Any of those will fit. There's a lot of information about these carburetors on the net, if you search.

The Holley 2300 2V will also fit. It is a better performing carburetor than the 21xx, but the 21xx is considered a superior carb for the trail.

 

I may have a 2 barrel off of a '71 304, worked when pulled.
