Mmm. You're kinda on your own. There's no guarantee that the newer style pedals will fit without some adjustment. Why would you want to use the later pedals? Did you install the later steering column?

The floors and firewall are different between those two years. The 76 pedals will hang too close to the firewall. I put intermediate pedals in a 76+ tub and had to heat and bend them back towards the firewall. You will have to do the opposite.

FWIW, I will be changing to hanging pedals in my early model soon. I tried units from both intermediate and late model CJs. The intermediate would require less modification, but had no easy provision for a hydraulic clutch. The late model pedals require heating & bending to allow use with the early style floor.
I'm not sure why you opted to remove your intermediate hanging pedals. They have needle rollers in each pedal (as compared to plain bushings) and are probably a more robust design than the late model pedals.

That's what I was gonna do, heat with torch and bend in the middle because its short to floor. The clutch rod on my 72 seems to pull up farther than I thought, I think it'll work?

I swapped Dash to 76+ Windshield, Steering column

need my pedals in, so I can get the dash and steering column and shaft in.

Sorry, took so long to reply THANKS for help! Im rebuilding my 72 new gauges n steering. I had it stripped ready for paint and me and my fiancee find a beautiful home to buy so now I have to put the jeep back together. Will need wiring help too here soon if anyone can?
