    Guys,
I am still building my 73 CJ5. I will update my build thread soon. Starting to get stuff back from paint and body...
Ok now the question. I ordered 2 replacement turn/parking signals for my grill however, I cannot find the gasket anywhere. Is this just something I should cut from Gasket material? Also, my replacements were made by Crown Automotive. They have 3 studs to go through grill and 3 lens screws, the lens screws stick way out the back and hold the assembly off the grill. Should I just cut them down? :?

    Thanks
    Lee

I can't answer on the Crown screws but I found the same thing on the Daughter's '70 and the intermediate grill on the CJ-6. With the gasket in place it compensated for this. I made my own "gaskets" out of the foam material used for crafts. It comes in blue, pink, orange, etc. I cut it out then paint it black with rattle can paint. Works great! It compresses for a good seal but gives the thickness needed. I get it at the local craft store, ours is called "Michaels". I think it's around 1/8" or a touch thicker and is easily cut/trimmed. Haven't had any heat issues or weathing issues either. Did this about 3 or 4 years ago on the '59 '5 and it's still pliable and sealing well.

I've used high density black foamrubber with glue on the one side for the gasket.
It works great. As for the screws sticking out, I can't say, I'm still waiting on my grill.

Thanks!! I was thinking that cutting them myself was going to be the only way to go.
