hesitation just above idle?

    i have a 64 cj 5 4 cylinder, when the choke is on the acceleration is smooth with no problems, however when the choke is off the initial acceleration hesitates for a bit , once you get past the rough spot acceleration is fine any suggestions for what the dead spot could be?

    Have you checked to see if the accelerator pump is providing a good shot of fuel?

    It could also be a vacuum leak.

    :iagree: My L-head did the same thing, then I rebuilt the carb. Problem solved. The accelerator pump was shot.
