sand cloth and emory cloth the same thing?

    Just wondering cause bout to polish knuckles before putting on the new seals?

    I think they are very similiar. Some sand cloth has holes in it so it does not load up. Should polish the knuckles very well ;)

    400 with oil...........

    Then if you want get a polish wheel with rouge..........

    Or get some Mico paper...........

    Emery paper/cloth is a different abrasive from sand - corundum, aka ruby - it's conductive. Corundum is 9 on the mhos scale of hardness (diamond is 10). Very high quality, fast cutting abrasive. You're warned not to use emery cloth on commutators because the debris can form conductive bridges.
