Will a 16 tooth input gear interchange with a 33 tooth cluster gear?

I know that normally a 16 tooth input gear is matched up with a 35 tooth cluster (driven) gear AND that a 18 tooth input gear is matched up with a 33 tooth cluster (driven) gear...

I have a set of each, but only one good t90 case... I'm trying to save myself the trouble of completely removing the cluster gear if I don't have to. I'd like to get the lower first and second gear ratios by using the 16 tooth input gear instead of the 18 tooth (which is what I have installed as of now).

No. Input gear has to match the cluster gear. I don't know specifically about these gears, but the axis of both gear sets does not change. There's no physical way to change the tooth count without changing the diameters of the gears. Unless you change the tooth design. Either makes this a "no."

As you know the T90 A has the 2.798/1 first gear ratio whereas the T90 C has the 3.34/1 first gear ratio.
The T90 C was the CJ standard (3B, 5,6) as of 11/1964. It was used in congunction with the 4.27 final drive.

I am familiar with these gear sets and Timgr is exactly correct.
If you want the 3.34/1 first gear ratio you will need to install the 16/35 maindrive/countershaft gear set.

The 16/35 does not use the "oil collector" for lubrication.
Therefore the T90 C case was not drilled and counterbored for the oil collector screws.

All other components should be virtually identicle but you may have to modify the countershaft thrust washer indexing tab.
I've seen that some countershaft gears are set up for thrust washer indexing while others are not.

Thanks for the help! I figured it wouldn't work just piecing it together but I figured I'd ask.
