Bad & Busted

This is bad.



In the background is busted. Busted carb bolt has been swiftly dealt with, thanks to too many years of busted bolt removal. Cranky Old German I worked for, "The only easy out is when you pay someone else to do it."

Paid or not, I never found it easy to remove broken bolts, but I am good at it.

Back to the bad.

The hot side of the coil probably should not have two wires going to it, bolted together and wrapped in tape. Before I chop into the harness to check continuity, does this connection look stock? Not the nut & bolt, the wire end.

The wiring on this thing has had me scratching my head several times.

 

One wire would come from the ballast resistor which cuts the voltage down to save the points from burning. The other wire comes from the starter solenoid to provide full 12 volts to the points when starting.

 

As said. The double green connector to the coil plus is original and the wires go as previously stated. Just confirmation.
