After trying to schedule a time to get the jeep for the past 3 weeks, someone with a truck big enough to get it, getting the owner to be home, I fianally blew off a day of work, grabbed my buddy and dragged it home!:tea:
It's a '74 cj5, NEW, ( I mean there is NO dirt on the fenderwells) fibergalss body, (unpainted, nice "Virgin white)! tub, new (unpainted, still got the sticker on it) windshield frame, NEW (it's still is wrinkled) soft top 43,000 miles orginal 232 motor, 4 new tires, all for the nice price of $4,500!:JEEP:
For once I GOT THE DEAL, instead of getting the sheety end of the stick!!
Can you tell after 20 some jeep projects over 40 years, I'm stoked about this one!!
    Some things I gotta do...........
    1) gas/temp gauge inop, are the speedo gauges 6 volt or 12????
    2) wiper pivot spins free, (looks likes a pin goes through it)? I dunno what the PO was doing or trying to do, but the passenger side pivot mount on the windshield is all bent outta shape????
    3) it has a set of 40/60 bench seats, (first jeep I ever owned with a set), that the guy hack up mounted and it's really close to the steering wheel, but the back of the seat is against the fender well in back.
    4) Paint the underside of the body as well as the jeep it's self.
All easy stuff, no headache hig dollar project this time, nice summer project!
There's a bet with all the people I told I was getting this jeep-"how long was I gonna keep THIS one"!
I'm the guy who buys them, spend countless hours fixing every little thing on a "project" and when it's done-send it down the road.
Last 2 jeeps projects, my wife never got to ride in any of them, I bet I put less than 50 miles test mileage on both and sold them, (Hey! EVERYTHING I own is for sale, if you want it, make me a offer for it)!:D
It's not like I don't like jeeps, I'm addicted to them, it's more a "mental health" thing.
Plus, it's cool to drag a rust bucket home into the "Man Cave" and out comes a shiney bright running jeep!:D
Seeing how my Ford Ranger is dying, (186,000 miles and the back soft plug is ****ing anti freeze, and I'll be danmed if I'm gonna pull the trans for a $2 soft plug at that mileage to do it), this jeep may become my ride(when I'm not on my bikes), by default!
(I just cann't do the "new" truck thing. I't's hard to look at a new truck that cost MORE than my house, when I know in 10-15 years, it'll look like my Ranger now-high mileage, rusty, worn out)!

Here's how I look at it.........
Out in Africa a herd only moves as fast as the slowest member, which is what the tigers and loins feed on, making the herd move faster.
My Brain only thinks as fast as the slowest brain cells.
Beer KILLS brain cells, the slowest drown first.
Thus, if my "slow" brains cells die, I MUST be able to think faster!:stout:;)
