On the choke linkage, there should be a step up cam.
Then on the carb, there is a adj screw.
If I remember correctly, the 2nd step of the cam is where set it, but sometimes you gotta "tweek" it).
Warm your jeep up, put it on the second step of the cam, adjust your idle to 1500-1800.
    Turn you jeep off.
On your choke, there should be a vacuum pull off also if I remember.
This is to keep the choke blade from closing ALL the way, choking off the engine.
You bend close the loop on the linkage to open the choke a tad.
This vacuum pull off works on manifold vacuum at start up.
I can't remember the setting, but something like, 15/64" drill bit gap should be a good starting point.
Close the choke, I put a vac. hose on it and suck on the diaphram to activate it. I bend the tab till I get the gap I want, or open the "U" part to close it up.
When the jeep is cold, (STONE cold, not cooled off), you step on the throttle to set the choke, crank it up, it starts.
(When it starts think of that commercial for the restaurant, the one where the guys starts his lawn mower first pull, or the guy looking at his hair- "We're goning out tonight"-cuz your jeep started)!!
If it starts and DIES, close the choke gap a tad,if it stumbles open the gap a tad, (this is with the fast idle set correctly).
    Try that.
I THINK, if you look in a repair manual, it may tell you the settings, or, on the I.D. tag on the hood.
    Try that!:D

After a few beers, I can figure out anything!
That's cuz the beer has killed the slower brain cells, leaving the faster ones free to work!
