question about a 70 commando

I have a friend that might be looking at a 70' commando, but he claims the owner (who has owned it since new) says there is a 258 under the hood, and it is a "jeep" not "jeepster"

I thought that in 70' they were still called jeepster commandos and came with the 134 or 225. Am I wrong

 

You are correct, you're not wrong, except the 71 was the last year for the 134/225 in the Jeepster Commando. 72/73 they dropped the Jeepster, kept the Commando and started using the AMC 232/258/304. Send him on over to the board, we'll straighten him out .

 

It doesn't matter what the owner thinks, if your friend can correctly ID and assess the Jeep(ster). Many owners are clueless about such things.

Yeah, send your friend here with some pics and the VIN.

 

I was thinking it's the owner we need to straighten out :twisted:. Kind of makes you wonder if it's even a Jeep . The other option is somebody slammed a 258 into a Jeepster but then again, it would still be a Jeepster .
You might want to print these off for the owner of the 70 for identification purposes.
