i'm rebuilding my D18 tcase and when cleaning it all up i noticed that 2 teeth have small bits missing.... I tried to get a pic but my camera isn't cooperating....
How big of a deal is this gear? I really don't want to spend 100+ bucks for a new gear...... Thoughts? What would you all do? I think I'll post a WTB ad for a good used one and see how it goes....

Depending on what "small bits" are, you might get away with dremeling (is that a word?) the sharp edges off.

If dremeling the burr or chip smooth is not feasible , the used ones in good shape would be better than the new ones on the market by a long shot.

Retailers that do a lot of Jeep gear and transmission work could get you one. Herm, R&P, Scotty's ... lots of possibilities.

Post a WTB ad on this website and the others that have D18 (CJ2A, CJ3A, CJ3B). Chances are someone has good usable gears available very cheaply.

I'd like to add there is a number stamped in the gear, 18-8-24, etc. They are different depending on which gear you need and whether from a 26 or 29 tooth transfer case. You'll need to get the correct gear.
