I'd have to take issue with that statement-I work at a new car dealer with about 40 technicians on staff. Some of the stuff these guys do amazes me-diagnosing the incredibly complex fuel injection & electrical systems on today's cars has to be a real challenge. BUT I'd bet that 90% of them have never installed a set of points or overhauled a carb. You've gotta remember that the newest (factory installed) carbs on the road are 20-25 years old now. Point-type ignition takes you back about 35 years. A person with a vintage vehicle like our Jeeps either needs to do their own repair or find an "old timer" who remembers how to fix 'em right.

I would like to thank ColoJeepGuy for his suggestion to go to Butch's. Took it there on Monday after work and picked it up yesterday after work and it running as I think it should. Now to keep it running good. Reasonable cost and fast service.

Three things are needed to enjoy owning an old Jeep. 1. Factory service manual, or manuals if you have swapped in parts. 2. A full set of hand tools (which can be easily had at Sears for less then $500) 3. Patience. If these don't work for you it will be a very rocky road, as well as expensive.

    few small suggestions
daryl already mentioned the manual and hand tools now heres the fun part start tinkering with the jeep don't worry it wont talk back like the Ex.
learn how it works both under hood and underneath best way to learn is to do small tasks like oil change tune up plugs wires cap rotor ect brakes
Not to be funny but your jeep expects to be treated better than the wife in other words it likes to be spoiled
once you get comfortable with your jeep it will talk to you in a sense telling you what it needs
than you and your jeep will have a long lasting relationship lol
