Well I dug through my bag of glovebox parts and found that little spring. No sign of the door bracket though.

I have a Jeepster but the box is about the same. I took an old filing cabinet drawer that already had some bends in it, and bent the rest with the help of a vise.

Lots of great ideas here. I still have some cardboard left in my box! I was thinking of using heat duct or sheet metal to create a floor and inboard wall and attach to firewall and dash. Anyone done this? I figure I could make a pretty big compartment. I think the ammo box is cooool! Sounds like the fitted trash can is great cause of the light weight and one less thing to rust out.

Off the top of my head I don't actually recall ever seeing an ammo box rusted through, not to mention it's location would make retaining salt/water unlikely. Lots of good idead here though. It's nice to see so many perspectives on a need.

I was just kidding about rusting out an ammo box. I think the idea is cool but wonder if the weight may cause the dash panel to distort?

On my J truck I used 1/4" plywood for the sides, back & bottom. No top. Covered it with black felt. It works.

Six dollar CD holder from Container Store.

Half installed. Squared up with all the screws in, it's very sturdy.
