Anyone know the correct way to install the key in the rear hubs on a dana 44. Just want to make sure I haven't done it wrong. Thanks in advance

Observe above and install the key in the slot with the hub installed and pushed together by hand.

Ok, I'm a little confused my keys had one corner looked to be sloped to conform to the stepdown at the threads. I assume that end faces outboard. Would that be correct?

If you look at the slot in the axle you will see where it slopes up opposite the thread end. That will conform with the slope in the key. When you insert the key it will have the slope down, if the slot in the axle is on the top. The end of the key (sticking out) will be flat so the washer will push it in tight with the hub on.

Maybe you don't have the proper key? Those look exactly like mine on my tapered axle. That is the ones from Vernco look like mine.

when I did mine they looked like the the ones on Verns site, I wonder if they still make them like that or if a new replacement style may be in your Jeep that works either way
