I am rebuilding my steering box with a kit I purchased from Kaiser Willys Hardware. I am only replacing the oil seal and inner/outer bushings. The selector shaft looks to be in really good condition. I had no steering issues and only want to keep it from leaking. The pitman arm also looks good. Is there anything I should consider before starting this? Basically I am going to disconnect steering tube to steering wheel and put box in parts cleaner, replace bushings and oil seal, make a new gasket for cover, clean steering wheel tube out as well and then paint the whole thing. Question I have is what should I use for lube? I also plan to run new wire up to horn button. If anyone has any tips for me please let me know. I am down to the feul pump and steering box and some final panel welding to do on my 1956 CJ5 Willys. I am keeping her all original (Denman,6v...etc) Chassis & drive train are done. Body is 75% done. THis is the summer I believe I will be done and have it back on the road. I can post pictures later tonight.
