    I have a question.

Since the lug nuts are right left thread on the left side of a Jeep does that make the Axle nut left hand thread as well?

My castle nut is frozen on the axle and I want to be sure before I get the torch kit out.

    Thanks in advance

It's also somewhere in the 250 to 300 lb/ft range of torque so a cheater is probably needed.

Sometimes a good quality air impact wrench is your friend. Make sure both tires are on the ground when loosening the axle nut. Not very likely the hub will come off by itself even with the nut off.

Three of the four wheels are on the ground. I have a smooth concrete floor in my garage which doesn't help. I am calling in the heavy artillery on Tuesday as my brother is coming over with his 3/4 drive set and the torch kit!

It will come off, it is just a matter of patience and the proper tools is all.

So I let the air out of the passengers side tire to get some traction. I let all the air out of it mind you and it still spun!

I know most of you aren't surprised by that.

I go to the tool store and get a 3/4 drive 1-1/2 socket and a 3/4 to 1/2 adapter. After the breaker pipe was applied and I had the whole family ( literally ) sitting on the right side of the Jeep the nut finally broke loose. When it broke free it sounded like a rifle crack.

An impact is your friend! much less likely to brake or bend something.
