Howdy, I have several sets of white spoke wheels, as I am sure most have.
At least I thought they were all sets, until I looked closer. Two are the plate steel Jackman type with the spokes welded to the rim. Others are bent plate steel and others are formed to tension the lugnuts. Please post close-up pictures and identify the variations that you have found. Thanks

off to the garage with the camera.I was told I have the illegal Jackman's (which is so cool!!!! )the place I bought my MTR's from would not install them on the jeep.these are the flat plate ones,I have never had a problem with the lugs coming loose due to no lug nut tension built into the rim.

I'm still looking for a matching spare Jackman rim for 15 years.guess I don't have the typical rims I have never seen another rig with them,I would love to beadlock them ,I air down now to 9 and have only sliped a bead once but I run 33/12.5/15 and the rims are 15 X10.

My Dad's Jeep had wheels just like those when he bought it. I swore they were Jackman's. When I dis-mounted the tires, I found they were stamped Firestone inside.

Didn't get my pictures yet but the white spokes that I think are Jackman's are also stamped Firestone inside. Figured Jackman just bought bare rims from them and welded in their own spider.
CJ5/442 those are certainly a different variant that I had not seen before AFAIK.

Here is a picture of what I think are Jackman's or at least made in their style.
15x8 with 3-3/4 backspacing. Notice the crack at the 12 o'clock position, problem with drilling a wide five lug pattern on an eight spoke wheel. Stamped Firestone 7-73 inside.

15x8 bent plate wheel, notice the tight fit at the shoulder.

I had been looking for a set of Jackmans for several years, then found a set of four and searched junkyards till I found a fifth for a spare, had them blasted and powdercoated. I know of the problems that they had and then quit making that style but I will only run them on my 47 Willys which isnt that heavy and never exceeds 50mph so I feel it will be safe.

These are classic rims and look cool but if used need to keep an close eye on them.

I want to find another set as I am planning an fixing up another flat fender.

Does anybody have any for sale? Mr Gangrene sould you sell your?

    Thanks

"Does anybody have any for sale? Mr Gangrene would you sell yours?"

Only have a pair, one is cracked, will have to check the other.
You would have to sign a waiver. :)
"This is a low speed thrill ride, please keep hands & feet inside vehicle at all times, stay securely fastened until JEEP has come to a full and complete stop" No... that's not it, that's the dash decal.

"I run the ten hole Suzuki wheels on mine. I think they look good."
    Pictures?

Can you guys in the SouthWest find me a heater delete plate? I am striking out using the regular channels.

48cj2a your wheels have a lot more beef around the wheel studs, not likely to crack those. Easy to get a tall tire in 16.5 as well.
Here are some ads from Four Wheeler September 1974.

    [IMG][IMG]

If I read this Fullerton ad correctly, the 8 spoke is an option.

Why haven't I seen cj5/442's wheels more often? Maybe another optional wheel.
Look at the prices, when a new regular stamped steel wheel was probably $12-15 these are 3 times that. Don't recall what a chrome or alloy mag wheel cost at the time.

This Dick Cepek ad seems to attack the Jackman style.

I just noticed the wheels in the Jackman ads have straight spokes and the other ones pictured have tapered. Here is one of mine in 15x8 that looks like the Cepek ad even down to the red & blue pinstripe that most all have now. Thought that used to be American Racing style.

Notice the rounded shoulder where the ring welds to the rim. Collects mud, rust and is hard to paint well.

Got a couple of pair of these ----- very minor diff from one set to the other.

Seems a lot of folks made versions of these.

Supposedly one pair was from a boat trailer.

Will sell cheap, if someone wants them.

Guess I need to post ad in the classifieds...

I just bought a new set of rims and while looking at wheels online at the dealer the white with stripes were sold by Keystone. Probably one manufacturer and many brand names.

Here's my road wheels. Never had a problem with lug nuts loosening. But then I always "pre-flight" before any trips.

And below that is the one oddball spare wheel. Ohh how I would like to buy the 5th match in the set.
