synthetic or atf

    Been doing a lot of searches, to the guys that have switched what did you like better for the stock tranny and T/C? ATF or synthetic gear oil or leave it at 80-90

    leave it 80/90. problems ive heard and seen with syn is getting some leaks.

    I haven't switched, and don't plan on it.

    I was recently given 2 qts of synthetic. If any of you would like it, you can have it for $20 UPS ground shipping. :)

    Sounds like your looking for the solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Stick with whats suppose to be in there.

    Gotcha, just heard that they can make shifting a lot smoother. There is nothing wrong with it other than she is a touch stiff and seems a little noisy on decel, no big deal really

    as much as that stuff cost and as much as our jeeps leak anyway. believe i would stick with what belongs in it ;)

    Actually the leak thing is exactly why I think I will stick with the gear oil, mine does not leak all that bad

    Sometimes ATF is added to the oil to reduce foaming, but I have not heard of running 100% ATF in place of gear oil.

    Tim, maybe that is what I have read, either way I have been convinced to stick with what I know 80-90 :)
