After a couple of months of grinding, painting, re-wiring, rebuilding, etc, the interior on my 75 is looking a little newer.:)
    Linex tub
    rebuilt the heater
    replaced the radiator
    refinished all the interior metal
    New seats
Everything was a success except for those darn dash lights

Several threads on this forum really helped out!

How much was it to have the tub linexed? I am thinking about it for mine.

Dash lights are usually ground problems.

    Looks great!

You have a cool top on that Jeep. I don't think Bestop makes that model for the intermediates anymore.

I got it done for $450 plus tax but didnt do the Linex Extra which was about $250 more. I really wanted to stay with the factory green color but that was an extra $250 also. My son is happy with the black and I am happy with it.

The only dash lights that i can get to work are the blinker indicator lights. I polished all the ground connections and still nothing.

Your right, they dont make them anymore but i wish they did. I will miss it when it wears out. I have wondered what it would cost to have a local upholstery shop make one.

Will this diagram help with your dash wiring?

Thanks for diagram. I actually found the same diagram on the forum and used it quite a bit. Just cannot seem to get anything but the blinker indicators to work. I thought it might be the headlight/dimmer switch and it looks like i replaced it unnecessarily. Funny thing is that when i test the wires with my $2.99 circuit tester it shows i am getting power to most of them and i replaced all the bulbs.

According to the diagram, you have two power sources. One feed one half of the dash lights and the other source feeds the rest. Is this light switch the one that twists to brighten or dim the dash lights? If so then the rheostat part might be burned out.

I didnt catch the two power source but I did install a new headlight switch because the rheostat part look suspect. I appreciate you helping me out on this. I guess I need to buy a little better diagnostic tool to figure it out. In the meantime i will look a little closer at the second power source and recheck the grounds. Some of these lights were working before i took out the dash.

The two power sources I refer to are at the instrument plug-in and show on the diagram as 11F panel lights right 11H panel lights left. There is a tie point labeled 11G which comes from splice C. The tie point is possibly a stud and maybe has rusted to bad for passing current.

Best things you can do for these old cjs is to throw a new wiring harness in them.... 30+ years old and the PVC insulation on the wires are at the end of there useful life.

rewire it and you'll be much happier in the long run.

Thanks guys. I just got it inspected today and may tackle that a little later in the year. I plan to strip down the engine, paint it, and then do the wiring harness. My sons baseball has started and I wont start a new project until late summer. It sure was nice to have the heater working last week - I was amazed at how well it worked.

    2manytoys,
I have a friend that owns a body shop and he rhino lined inside and underneath for 500 bucks. I found a system from Eastwood called power liner and used it today on the inside of my hood and inside of my fenders. Wish I would have known about this product sooner. It was very easy to use, came with the spray gun, and enough coating to do a whole truck bed and cost $179 plus shipping. Heck, I even paid 150 bucks to have my bumper sprayed before I found the power liner!
If you look under builders and fabricators you will see my jeep and the progress. I also have links to many photos as well.
