Could a Ford 2.8 be swaped in a CJ? I am looking into possible Bronco II 2.8 with a C4 auto adapted to my Dana 18, advance has the adaptors, just thinking if this could work, the other option is GM V6 with tubo 350 4X4 tranny to Dana 18 any suggestions will help I'm a diabled veteran whose knees and hips are slowly going bad and an automatic tranny is looking good and I want to enjoy my jeep, I haven't drove it in over ten years, and decided to get it ready. Thanks Mike

You can put any drivetrain in any vehicle, given enough time and money.

Certainly the C4 is do-able but the Buick or Chevy V6 with the TH350 is more common. The Chevy 4.3L V6s are easily sourced and inexpensive on the used market. The Buick V6s are a little easier to adapt, because they have a front-mounted distributor which reduces interference with the firewall.

Check Novak's site they got a pretty good bit on the Pinto I4, not sure how the bolt pattern of the 2.8ltr differs from the I4, but you may luck into something there. My brother had a 2.8 V6 in an old Mustang II, '76 or '78 vintage.
