I am in the process of restoring the origional seat in my dads 73. after i got the seat sliders off on the driver side i noticed that only the outside slider has a locking mechanism on it. the inside slider after some cleaning and a little lube can now just slide back and forth at will. did this come like this from the factory or did the person who recovered the seats for dad many moons ago loose the locking mechanism for it? My dad is the origional owner and never had the seats out except for being recoverd once.

I can't speak for all but the '72-'75 seats I just put in my Daughter's '70 CJ-5 are like that. I have two other sets of sliders that are like that as well. Just have the locking mechanism on one slider.

If you examine the free slider (right side) you will see there are no holes or rivets where a bracket has been mounted. I have only seen it on one side only.

I figured there was only one but was not sure. If it were not for the fact that I am 6'2" and my wife being 5' it would never be moved but if she wants to drive it i know it will have to be moved up. With just one lock on it does it tend to move around some?
