I have seen older pics and some restoration projects with the Dauntless 225 block and valve covers painted with Hampstead Green (also a Honda body color #BG11M) which is a duplicolor #88-00906.

My 1971 'AMC' 225 and many other pics I have seen the paint color (from factory?) is more of a teal blue.

I want to keep the factory look. Which color do I use? and what color IS the teal?

I just used Alpine Green.. its a plasticote engine enamel..
When I got down to stripping the valve covers I found two layers of paint..
One was a very close match to the alpine green, one was a bit darker..
Here is mine as it sits today..

Yes, my valve covers are the Alpine Green. Do you know what years the 225's came with this color? I want to stay true to factory...

Looks good by the way. I am sandblasting and painting whatever parts I can strip off this winter, starting with valve covers. Maybe someday I will man-up to pull the motor out for a complete overhaul/paint job.

Thanks Sparky. I will browse that thread. I officially have the colors on hand but I want to be sure of the year that they stopped using the mettalic green and used the Alpine Green color like ReJeep used above...

This is my 66 Tux with Hampstead Green [IMG]

and it was extremely close to the original engine color. The engine I believe to be original as I bought this 66 Tux in 1970. There was no paint over paint on the engine.
