Last week my 61 cj5 was warming up for a few minutes, and went back outside and it has stopped running and no won't start. Fuel is pumping into solex carb just fine, and I have tried starter fluid to make sure that was not the issue. While using starter switch inside engine compartment, there is no spark at the plug. Went back to the distributor and I can't see a spark accross the points. I replaced the rotor and distributor cap and disengaged the msd ignition box to try to isolate problem. With the ignition box off or back on, still no spark at points. I also checked to see if there was a spark off the coil wire to ground, and nothing. I am gettin 12+ volts at the positive of the coil( blaster coil from summit) and 12+ at negative with the points open.

My worry is that if the ignition box is burned up or something, that could be the problem but difficult for me to determine.

Or, if I remove the ignition box and go back to just the points setup, it could be the dwell or something off and I am not setting it right.

I am going to replace points and condensor, and maybe get a dwell meter, but if any hints on isolating the exact loss of spark could be gone over again, I would appreciate it.

    Thanks

Remove the trigger wire (white) from the dist. Pull coil wire out of dist. cap and place 1/4" or so from a ground.
Turn the key on, and touch the trigger wire to ground momentarily. You should get spark at the coil wire if the MSD is good.
