Did renegades come with a rear tire carrier? It looks like there was one on mine at one point but have no idea what it would look like. If so does anyone have pics i could see? Also are one of these tail lights original?[IMG]

As far as I know, there was a rear tire carrier mounted on the rear panel. The brake lights don't look original to me, but the reverse lights do. However, I have a '74, not a '75 so they probably changed.

LH light looks original. RH does not.

You should have the "last round taillight" shown here.

    Good ones are scarce.

Why do you think your Jeep is a Renegade?

Well, the stripes would indicate a Renegade. I'm surprised that you have standard springs though - I thought that HD springs and shocks were part of the package. The standard rear springs have 5 leaves - and that's what I think I see.

By 1975, all the Renegade options were available from the regular options list. You could put together a Jeep with all the same equipment but without the stripes and wheels. There's no indication from the VIN or the VIN plate, unless the Jeep were painted one of the special Renegade colors. This is 584, "Renegade Orange" which is also an indication that your Jeep was delivered as a Renegade. (From your first picture, I thought it was 526 Copper Poly).

After '74, you could get a Renegade in any color, and I presume vice-versa. Jeep was pretty easy about modifying the options list, so someone could have gotten a Renegade color without the rest of the option package. But the stripes plus the color is fiarly conclusive.

I think JC Whitney has the carrier - Probably Jeepdoc.com and 4wd hardware as well. Cost about 80 bucks. I took mine off (side one) because it rattled and broke all the fender bondo out. It also makes the jeep wider and hangs on every tree in the woods.

I didn't include the link about taillights in my answer above - here it is: http://www.film.queensu.ca/cJ3B/Dating/Taillights.html

Just FYI - the rear mounted spare carrier will break out the rear panel if you put a big tire on it. BTDT. I reinforced mine with an angle iron bolted to the carrier and the tops of the wheelhouses.
