I have seen quite a few ECJ5's ans 6's with dual rear wheels. Does anyone still make a duel rear wheel kit, are the rear axles made differently? I am really interested in doing this to my 67 CJ5 :v6:

Some of tho old jeep-a-trenches, jeep backhoes and jeep tow trucks had these. IIRC they had d60's or somehting of similar girth in the rear.

FWIW there was a guy with a chevy luv pickup that had dual rear wheels. the wheel was made differently. one center section. with two rims. kinda a pita to change tires out, as it was all one piece

Actually I believe it was a dana 70 , same as in the FC-170 duel rear wheel only narrowed down. There was also duel wheel kits offered for the CJ2A's etc, but not sure what year they stopped. I think they where made in Butler pa, same place as the Bantam trailers?

I sold an NOS kit many years ago, around 1999 or so. IIRC it said it was for the CJ 2a, 3a, 3b, and '5. It was a pair of special spacers to go between the wheels, threaded shafts to go on the lug studs to hold the inner wheel on with external threads for the lug nuts for the outer wheels. Also had a pair of valve stem extensions for the inner wheels. Back then they sold for over $200. Probably worth much more now. I can't remember the name of the company that made them though.

I have a set of wheels that came off of a '64 F350 that I owned -- 16" lock-ring type, wide six-lug pattern with six holes and rivets that run the circumference of the center. Pre-'67 F350s / F3s or F4s have them as far back as the 50s.

They appear to be identical to the wheels on the converted jeeps, and I -suspect- that the axles may be a narrowed version of the axles used on the Fords. Although they may not be narrower.

Check out your local wrecker and tire shops; the OLD local tire shops here have yielded some good finds. As a matter of fact, I saw some wide six, high-offset 16" wheels there recently. Note that Dodges of that vintage share the same six-lug bolt pattern but are 17.5" in diameter, usually with three holes around the center.

    Good luck!!
